How Passo ranks restaurants
How Passo ranks restaurants
> A short, transparent explanation of our editorial methodology.
The Passo Grade
Every restaurant in our directory carries a Passo Grade on a 5-tier scale:
| Grade | What it means |
|-------|---------------|
| A+ | Top ~3% — consensus across major reviews, exceptional consistency, distinctive identity |
| A | Best-in-class within its category |
| B+ | Strong place worth seeking out |
| B | Solid, dependable |
| C | On the radar, not yet recommended |
What goes into a Grade
A Passo Grade is a composite assessment. It combines:
1. Critical reviews — Politiken Iby, Berlingske gastronomy section, Google ratings, Bib Gourmand and Michelin status where applicable.
2. Direct editorial visits — Members of the Passo team eat at every Grade A+ and A restaurant before listing.
3. Consistency over 12+ months — Single great meals don't lift a Grade. We look at sustained execution.
4. Member feedback — Aggregated feedback from Passo members who've used a Pass at the restaurant.
5. Social signals — Google ratings (volume-adjusted), Instagram engagement, mentions on independent Copenhagen blogs.
What we don't do
- We don't accept paid placement
- We don't list restaurants because they paid to be partners
- We don't show newspaper ratings directly — those feed into our Grade, but the Grade is our own assessment
How often we update
Quarterly full audit of the database. Continuous updates when restaurants close, relocate, or change concept significantly.
